About Ellie Brown:

I am currently an Art History PhD student at the University of Warwick, where my research project is funded by the AHRC consortium, Midlands4Cities. Prior to joining Warwick, I studied for an MA in Art History at The Courtauld Institute of Art. My MA focused on early-twentieth century German modernism (architecture, film, fashion, art, design) alongside wider [inter]national politics, societal shifts, as part of Dr Robin Schuldenfrei’s specialist option, “Experiencing Modernism: Utopia, Politics and Times of Turmoil”. I completed my BA in Art History at the University of Leeds, where I undertook modules in cultural theory and the Frankfurt School, pre- and post-war English modernism, film theory, and art/anthropology. My undergraduate dissertation focussed on the history and transformation of post-war public art in spaces of consumption. Since 2014, I have written widely for print and online publications about art, photography, fashion, design and music. A select portfolio of my writing is available on my personal website.
